Policy & Practice Building Partnerships | Tripartite Group, National Standards and Voluntary Register | Policy Development Tripartite Group, National Standards and Voluntary Register The Royal Institute of Public Health has, since 1998, been working on the development of standards for Public Health Specialists and on the establishment of an associated register. This work has been undertaken in partnership with the Faculty of Public Health Medicine and the Multidisciplinary Public Health Forum, under the banner of the Tripartite Group. The standards are now in general use and the register will operational from May 2003. The initiative has strong Government backing. In a speech in November 2002, Lord Hunt stated that the Government was supportive of the project and that it would like to see this initially voluntary register become, in due course, statutory. And in March 2003, Minister of Public Health, Hazel Blears, reinforced this support and announced the imminent launch of the register. You will find here documents on the background to the Tripartite Group's work, the full national standards and extensive information about the register, including the details of the portfolio assessment entry route to the register. The Register Bulletin includes contact details for further information. [Click here for further information on the voluntary register for public health specialists.] |
